New habits are hard to establish; the older you get, the more difficult it is.
We human beings are too entrenched in our comfort zones to make changes. For the young folks, the enforced change in environment due to their progression from junior school to high school and from high school to colleges forces them to change and adapt.
This however do not really exist for the adults. Even when changing jobs, their tendency is to keep everything else intact, than to face an avalanche of unknowns that slaps them silly.
So there must be a way.
Like all good physicists, i propose to think of things from a point of basis: a hypothesis.
Although this should be a blog post by itself, i shall just reveal a little here first.
Hypothesis – a theory of how things might actually have work – and then work on it to prove its validity.
So for habits, i reckon that we can work on only 3 at a time. And it had to be a very focused effort. Things had to be kept very simple. And like all things, we should start from the very foundation.
So, i had long lost my habit of planning for my next day, or deciding what to accomplish the next day. Lets start doing that again. Weelam had talked to me about this habit of his, i read abt how steve jobs plans his objectives to accomplish the next day , i also read about of mark zuckerberg’s commitment towards his new year resolutions. So is should use this as my first new habits to form.
This should be a good foundation to start from as it will allow me to plan and review for my other habits on a daily basis.
The other 2 new habits would probably be : blog everything here thingy, which i mentioned earlier here. The other will be to either keep to my diet or to go for the long walk everyday…..
Cant really make a decision on the latter yet. Because both have huge inertias holding me back….
I shall think about it….
