Facebook is no longer the facebook we know

As Facebook becoming more and more profit driven and money minded; it started to curtail a lot of what was useful and depended on by its users.

Nowadays, Facebook pages’ posts are no longer shown on most of their followers’ walls – meaning, the investment that companies put into facebook as a social media marketing tool, no longer have it worth and effectiveness.

Facebook, was used a lot by the normal users as a aggregation of news they are interested in; but however, by the same brush of the stroke as the former mentioned, we normal users are no longer effectively seeing the posts made by the pages we are following. Worst of all, there are pages’ posts that hardly or ever make my wall (only until many months later, when I incidentally looking for that specific page that I had followed, that I realised I havent seen any of the many posts that are posted).

Further along, Facebook’s wall is irritatingly not showing the latest posts correctly/effectively. Multiple refreshing of the browser just keep generating the same news shared with nothing new – giving the feeling that “nothing interesting is happening”; despite the fact that so much materials and content are being posted all the time. In contrast, that makes Twitter utterly awesome (but still….)

Now, more and more sites and journalists are recommending ppl to quit Facebook. Even myself, a very active user of Facebook is contemplating the same.

My prediction is that, an alternate social media site will rise within the next 5 years and shake things up at Facebook, and that Facebook will no longer reach the heights that it had achieved prior to its IPO.

We will see.
